1. Recognise which things you can change, and which things you can’t change
2. Pick your battles - consider whether you can overlook a behaviour
3. Congratulate yourself and your child when you like the behaviour
4. Before reacting to a difficult situation, take a few seconds to calm yourself
5. Don’t nag – instead be the role-model for your children. They learn from you first
6. Allow your child to have a go at something new
7. You don’t have to be the expert on everything – be human!
8. Children are not “mini-adults”, so treat them as children, with love and respect
9. Simplify your daily activities
10. Maintain your sense of humour!
